AUTISM
Counselling
I have a particular interest in providing counselling to Autistic adults, including adults who are formally diagnosed (including an Asperger’s syndrome diagnosis), awaiting a diagnosis or who self identify.
Being Autistic can mean that you think and process information differently from other people, this difference can offer opportunity and challenge.
It may be difficult to use your strengths when others often do not understand your difference. It could make processing information including sensory information feel overloading. It can make starting and maintaining positive relationships a struggle. You may be left feeling overloaded, depressed, anxious or isolated.
I aim to communicate with clients in a way that makes use of their strengths. I aim to provide clients with the opportunity to feel valued and understood and develop their understanding and confidence in themselves. I facilitate clients to develop strategies that enable them to move forward and use and value their strengths.
I have two years experience of providing one to one counselling to Autistic adults within a specialist Autism therapy service.
I have over 20 years of experience in a wide range of settings facilitating Autistic adults to achieve their goals.
Please contact me if you would like to access counselling or you would like further information.
